ORGANIZATION: GIVE SOMEONE A CHANCE (GSAC)

  • 2 people are interested

We know that the most fundamental barrier for the homeless to finding employment is showers and clean clothing. We built a Mobile Laundry Vehicle (MLV) with 5 washers and 5 dryers deployed on a weekly basis. We follow our Shower Bus on different days in and around the greater Sonora CA area. The MLV Serves as a beacon to attract the homeless allowing our outreach services to effectively touch a vastly larger population of homeless to identify their needs and refer them to appropriate County, State, and Federal programs. Willing participants can find real solutions in a safe environment for medical and mental health care, social welfare, VA programs and eventually housing opportunities through the GSAC Outreach Center. All if our procedures and operations are county PPE compliant. Just a few hours a month or more if you are available this is a great place to start the actually better someone's existence. Please consider our organization.

Mission Statement

Give Someone A Chance (GSAC) has a mission to bring dignity to individuals in need, and improve the lives of the homeless and marginalized through mobile showers, transportation, and sustainable solutions by means of outreach services. Our core offerings expand access to government and private programs through fact finding and referrals that positively impact the lives of the homeless and, as a consequence, all residents of Tuolumne County.

Description

We know that the most fundamental barrier for the homeless to finding employment is showers and clean clothing. Last year we built a shower bus with two showers (one is ADA) and this year will deploy in our County directly to the homeless locations. Our Shower Bus and Outreach Services are designed to meet people where they are and work with them to obtain long-term stability. The shower bus serves as a beacon to attract the homeless allowing our outreach services to effectively touch a vastly larger population of homeless to identify their needs and refer them to appropriate County, State, and Federal programs. Willing participants can find real solutions in a safe environment for medical and mental health care, social welfare, VA programs and eventually housing opportunities through the GSAC Outreach Center.
