Recruiting Organization: The Right to Immigration Institute
The Right to Immigration Institute (TRII) in Waltham, Massachusetts, a non-citizen led immigration and human rights advocacy laboratory, is actively recruiting for AmeriCorps New American Integration Program (NAIP) applicants (2 slots) and also welcomes volunteers to work with non-citizens in naturalization, asylum, T/U Visas, VAWA, and other immigration and human rights matters. We currently are staffed by three volunteer full- time lawyers, a part-time volunteer attorney, one Department of Justice Accredited Representative and twenty volunteers who have completed training to become DOJ-accredited immigration representatives and are in the process of applying for accreditation.
TRII provides free legal and advocacy services in immigration, non-citizens' rights and human rights (which we define to include housing, employment, school, public benefits, protection of protests and demonstrations, and community relations). TRII also provides free training, supervision and mentoring for any interested community members, refugees or non-citizens who are interested in getting accredited to represent non-citizens in immigration proceedings, and/or immigration trials and appeals, or are want to hear more about working as full, part-time or occasional immigration and human rights advocates for TRII or just to learn more about the immigration system to be a more informed trusted advocate or ally in the community. Experience and/or proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, Luganda, Swahili, Arabic, Kreyol, or other languages is appreciated but definitely not required. TRII is a teaching and learning organization.
