About Well Constructed: Since 2015, Well Constructed has provided a sustained source of clean water to more than 125,000 people in rural Ghana. Well Constructed is managed by a team of Ghanaian leaders who manage the construction and maintenance of our wells on the ground and a group of volunteers across the globe providing funding and operational support.

Job Summary: As the Bookkeeper for Well Constructed, you will be responsible for executing the month-end close process within the organization’s accounting software. Your tasks will include importing and categorizing bank transactions, inputting bills and recording bill payments, inputting donor contributions and recording bank deposits, and reconciling financial accounts on a monthly basis. You may also liaise with our Ghanaian operations team or other third-party organizations from time-to-time.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Month 1: Ramp up with the Executive Director and Treasurer on Well Constructed bookkeeping processes. Meet the team in Ghana.
• Months 2 - 12: Manage the month-end close process, raising issues as needed to the Executive Director and Treasurer.
• Months 12+: We hope that you will continue to volunteer with us in this or an expanded capacity.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Prior bookkeeping experience or accounting education.
• Willingness to commit to 2-3 hours per week for at least one year .
• A strong desire to make a great impact on the lives of the people of Ghana.
• A stable internet connection.
• Strong attention to detail and written communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and use Google Hangouts video conferencing.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Salary and Benefits:

• We cannot offer a salary for this role, as our entire team abroad are unpaid volunteers who do this work for the satisfaction of making a tremendous impact on the lives of so many in Ghana. However, we are happy to write letters of recommendation, and in the past have written letters for successful applications to MIT Sloan School of Business and Harvard Kennedy School.
