The Sewing Volunteer donates their time and skills make memory bears for the bereaved loved ones of Hospice patients after the patient has passed. The materials for the bear are clothing items submitted from the family for the purpose of making the bears.
A sewer receives the standard bear pattern and all other materials from the agency. The training for this role is approximately 5 hrs. of self-paced computer modules as well as an orientation.
The bears are highly treasured keepsakes for the families and are greatly appreciated. This is a meaningful volunteer role.
