Support group facilitators create a safe, open environment where people share their feelings, thoughts and experiences in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared problems of dementia. The goal of the Alzheimer's Association support groups is to provide emotional, social and/or educational support to group members. Facilitators can choose to run the type of group of their choice, in coordination with the needs of the community. Types of groups may include, but not be limited to, general caregiver, adult children, spouse, gender-specific, or other groups.

**This volunteer opportunity is virtual, however, interested persons should reside in Massachusetts or New Hampshire in the United States of America.

  • Orientation or Training
  • Initial training and onboarding takes 4-6 hours. Ongoing commitment may vary depending on the frequency of volunteer's support group meetings, and number of groups volunteer commits to providing.
  • Former experience with dementia as a family member or healthcare professional preferred. Driver's license only required if volunteer will be presenting educational programming in the community.
