Work with our communications and committee teams to coordinate and publish various types of compelling content to connect with Voters, Influencers, and other local Nonprofit Organizations.
At The League of Women Voters in Oakland, our mission is to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation in voting and good governance. We pursue our mission through education on major public policy issues and by influencing public policy through research and advocacy.
Overview: If you are looking to gain more communications and content development experience, or if you already have experience and just want to give back, this opportunity will be a great way to further your goals while contributing to a worthy cause.
We are searching for a someone who has at least one year of Communications or Content Marketing experience to spend about 10 hours per week working with a few committees to publish their messaging to our new website, newsletter, and in social media.
Basic Tasks: You will work with several volunteers (and one paid consultant) to oversee all of the messaging across all of these channels - they are content creators, designers, advocacy strategists, and writers. You mostly will help to coordinate the communications effort, although you will occasionally create or edit content. Others will publish it by implementing the content in various channels. There will be a regular check-in with each of 3-4 Committee Leads to understand upcoming content needs. We stay organized across teams by relying heavily on Slack and Google Suite.
This position requires a self-motivated, organized, and responsive individual who has a passion for defending democracy, informed voting, local politics, and who has a working understanding of apps and technology.
Your role:
- Multi-channel communications coordination
- 1+ years experience in communications or content marketing
- Occasionally create or post content to our website (built on Wix)
- Keep content deadlines on track
- Passionate about connecting with local voters through compelling communication and events
- Contribute to ideas for how to increase membership and engagement
Please send a link to your LinkedIn profile and/or your resume to the current Comms Lead, mjanefelice@gmail.com
Thank you!
