ORGANIZATION: Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar

The Scholar Celebration honors the achievements of our graduating Class of 2022 Scholars as they commit to the next step in their journey. There is a networking portion from 5:00 to 6:30 for our College Scholars and business partners followed by a dinner and program. We need volunteers to help with check-in and registration and other misc. tasks.

Mission Statement

Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar inspires and empowers promising, underserved students to succeed in high school, college and life.

Description

The vision of Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar is that all high school students will have access to the services and networks of support they need to succeed in college and pursue the future of their dreams.

As of 2021, we have supported more than 297 local students as they earned their college degrees, and we actively work with 80 high school students and more than 150 college students.

Our Scholars graduate from high school at a 99% rate versus a local average of 65% for the schools we serve. Seventy percent of our Scholars earn a college degree. This compares to 39.7% degree attainment for the same demographic nationally.
