SAHA and City Slicker Farms are working together to create community gardens at Amistad House a low-income senior building in downtown Berkeley. Through this process, residents learn to plant, tend and grow herbs and vegetables for the community to enjoy. They will receive free plants and regular gardening mentor-ships.
We are looking for volunteers who are looking for a work out. Help SAHA and City Slicker Farms build and fill two raised garden beds with rich fertile compost soil.
Approx. timeline for the day:
10AM - Volunteers to arrive at Amistad to help unload supplies.
10AM -12PM CSF staff will instruct volunteers on how to build the garden beds, and fill the new beds with compost soil.
12PM - Lunch (sandwich)
12:30-1 or 1:30pm - finish building/filling the garden beds with compost soil.
1PM - 2pm - residents will plant new plants in the new garden beds
