Our Overland Food Pantry is open to the public from 10:00 am-12:00 pm on Tuesdays and Fridays, operating as a drive-thru. Volunteers and staff take information from our clients (clients remain in their cars) and load groceries into clients’ cars.

Many of our clients do not speak english, and to help them the best way we can, we are seeking individuals that can speak different languages to help assist these clients. Some languages include spanish, swahili, and arabic.

If you have an interest in serving the community, feel free to reach out!

Below is a list of the following tasks we’re looking for volunteers to assist with:

  • Tuesdays and Fridays: 9:00 am-1:00 pm. First-time volunteers are asked to arrive at 9:00am for training.
  • Tasks: Intake information from clients (outside). Load cars with groceries (outside).

Before you begin, we ask that you review our volunteer orientation

The first step is to select the program you would like to volunteer at and review the corresponding video (Overland Food Pantry). The video takes about 15 minutes to complete.

The second step is to review all of the volunteer paperwork on the signup and sign the digital form signifying you have read and understood the following: Volunteer Standards Handbook, the Food Pantry Agreement (if volunteering at the Overland Food Pantry), Smoking Policy, Confidentiality Agreement, Release of Consent (if a minor under the age of 16 is volunteering), Volunteer Contact Information (if volunteering at one of our thrift stores).

The third step is to sign up for your desired shift via Signup.com.

Attire:

Volunteers are required to wear appropriate casual attire appropriate for a work environment. A t-shirt, jeans, and baseball caps are all acceptable. We ask that you refrain from wearing anything that could be considered offensive in a work environment. Close-toed shoes are required (sneakers are ideal). If you have hair long enough to pull back, we ask that you have it pulled back. Dressing in layers is ideal, as you may be working both inside and outside, depending on the task.

Where to Park:

Please park across the street from the pantry, on Gourley St., or behind the Whitney Methodist Church. If parking on Gourley St., you may park in the dirt parking spaces (not the giant dirt parking lot), or on the side of the street. Please be sure not to block any of the resident’s driveways if you do park on the street.

When you arrive:

Please ask for Brandon, our Overland Food Pantry Manager. He will direct you to the volunteer sign-in sheet and provide you with a tour of the building and let you know where to begin.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you so much for your desire to help us prevent homelessness in the Treasure Valley!
