We would love for you to join the Supporter Engagement Team (SET)! As a SET Volunteer you will be a part of our friendly and fast-paced team where no day is the same. So, get ready, SET, go!

We are on the frontline, so speak to many wonderful people every day, these may be donors or supporters, service users or those seeking our support, or the general public interested in our work. This is the ideal role for you if you enjoy communicating with a wide range of people and being part of a busy and friendly team. Providing excellent customer service is at the heart of what we do as a team and we would love you to help us make a difference. You will have the opportunity to grow in confidence and develop skills in administration, fundraising and customer service as you deal with enquiries and collaborate with the team in providing the best possible assistance.

What will you be doing?

  • Love to chat? We do! And so do our amazing supporters who come to us with a variety of wonderful enquiries. They may ask you to take a donation, support them with their fundraising or help them to organise an event.
  • If talking is not your type of thing... then you can help us with web chat, emails, sending letters and using social media which will help us provide the ultimate #TeamYoungLives experience!
  • Giving our new supporters, who have signed up for a regular donation through one of our fundraisers, a warm welcome. You may have seen our wonderful street fundraisers out and about.
  • Volunteers are incredibly important to us! You can help us reach more fabulous people like yourself! Be an advocate for volunteering at Young Lives vs Cancer and support others interested in volunteering. You may be communicating with potential volunteers, welcoming new volunteers to the charity and sending out welcome packs.
  • We are One Team! We don’t just support our supporters but also the rest of Young Lives vs Cancer. You could be offering support to other teams within the charity if and when necessary

You will be organised and methodical and be keen to learn new processes and have good written and verbal communication skills. If you have some basic IT skills that would be great although we will provide training so you are fully equipped for your role and if you have some experience in a customer service role that would be amazing.

At Young Lives vs Cancer, we recognise that opportunities for too many people remain a condition of their race, class, sex, disability, sexual orientation - or a combination. This has never been acceptable to us as an organisation. At Young Lives vs Cancer, we do not just accept difference - we value it, we celebrate it, we nurture it, and we thrive off it. We positively welcome your application irrespective of your background.

We are on a journey, and if you join us, you will be part of a community that is committed make a difference to the lives of children and young people with cancer.

We are looking for volunteers who can commit 1-2 days per week during office hours of 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday and can be flexible to fit in with your other commitments. You will need to be within travelling distance of our Bristol (BS1 2NT) office where this role will be based.

We will provide full training for the role and the support of a dedicated Volunteer Manager.

Mission Statement

Young Lives vs Cancer helps families find the strength to face everything cancer throws at them. We’ve been there before. We’ll face it all, together.

Description

When a child is diagnosed with cancer it threatens everything, for them and their family.
At a time when they should be busy being children, enjoying their rollercoaster teenage years or finding their feet at uni, life becomes full of fear. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, of overwhelming money worries, mental health stretched to breaking point, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.
At Young Lives vs Cancer, we get that. We are the charity that helps children and young people (0-25) and their families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them.
We know everyone's different, so we work hard to make sure each family has what they need to get through cancer. Children and young people with cancer deserve the same opportunities as anyone else. We’ll always have their back, because we’ve been there before.
Powered by the kindness of our supporters, we’ll face it all together .
