To us, being a Good Neighbor is at the heart of what we do at Goodwill. It is why we are focused on empowering people to overcome obstacles to their independence. The Good Neighbor program helps people who are recovering after a disaster, housing transition, or any challenges. Through our Good Neighbor Program, we work with local schools, non-profit groups, and community service organizations to provide support and assistance to our neighbors who need help. As an In-Store Community Connector, you will help connect community members to services and resources using the MyWayfinder tool. This volunteer position will assist the Good Neighbor Community Navigator by pulling items from our sales floor for the Good Neighbor Program. The In-Store Community Connector will also fullfil the needs requests with the pulled items. This volunteer position will take place at our Goodwill stores in Greece and Webster.

VOLUNTEER ASSIGNMENT DUTIES:

Under the supervision of the Good Neighbor Program Director:

• Read and prioritize Good Neighbor requests
• Assist 'walk-in’ customers by connecting them to MyWayfinder and other resources in our community
• Collect items from the Good Neighbor closets to make "On your Way" bags for people in need
• Pull items from the store floor for the Good Neighbor program
• Bring up new ideas to better server our community
• Adhere to the policies and procedures of Goodwill of the Finger Lakes as illustrated in the Guide for Non-Employees
• Be accepting, understanding, and non-judgmental or discriminatory
• Report volunteer hours on a consistent basis to the Volunteer Coordinator
