ORGANIZATION: POSSIBILITIES THEATRE COMPANY

  • 6 people are interested

Possibilities Theatre Company seeks board members for their 2022-2023 season.

Founded in May of 2020, Possibilities Theatre Company has been working consistently over the past two years to make theatre accessible, when the world needs it most. With 16 productions produced so far, and our first official season about to be released-- we're excited to keep expanding our community to work with new artists, provide exciting opportunities, and produce a space for people to build genuine connections.

  • Create a "brave space" for artists to take risks, try new things, and build a community.

  • Cultivate an artistic company made up of theatre artists of all races, sizes, ethnicities, ages, and abilities. This artistic company will use their artistic and human experience to decide which stories best represent them, and the world needs to hear.

  • Find unique ways to make people feel less lonely in our ever-evolving world through virtual and live theatrical production.

  • Make an effort to constantly work with new artists for fresh perspectives.

  • Respect our artist’s time and energy, and find ways to compensate them accordingly.

  • Make our art as accessible as possible so everyone can enjoy it, making the extra effort to accommodate for people who are physically disabled, neurologically diverse, and/or living in poverty.

Our 2022-2023 season will include: participation in a local theatre festival, 3 workshops, 1 classical play, and 1 musical, as well as fundraiser events. We've been highlighted as a Feature in the Chicago Reader, met with positive reviews for our productions locally, as well as nominated for Best New Theatre Company in 2020 and 2021!

We're looking for board members who are:
  • Actively committed to making the arts more inclusive, safe, and accessible to marginalized populations.
  • Interested in being part of the beginning of a new theater company's history, and navigating the adventures and challenges that arise with that.
  • Able to attend monthly board meetings on Zoom (potentially in-person, eventually), and come to occasional Possibilities productions and events.
  • Interested in organizing fundraisers and other ways for Possibilities to grow financially.
We're interested in board members from a wide variety of backgrounds, who are invested in arts accessibility, being anti-racist, and creating community.

Having just become an official 501(c)3 organization, Possibilities Theatre Company is excited to start this next chapter in our story! We hope you'll consider joining us as we continue our mission of making Possibilities an authentic stage for all!
