ORGANIZATION: Community for Positive Aging / Hollywood Senior Center

Provide a welcoming experience to Hollywood Senior Center guests and callers, and assist staff with administrative projects.

TIME COMMITMENT: Weekly 4 hours shift, Fridays, 8:30am-12:30pm

DUTIES & ACTIVITIES:

  • Greet and assist participants as they arrive for programs and appointments or inquire about assistance
  • Help participants check in electronically using MySeniorCenter, distribute key cards, and enter data into the computer
  • Answer phone calls to HSC’s main phone line, check messages, and return calls in order to connect individuals with the appropriate staff or resources
  • Check emails and reply in order to connect individuals with the appropriate staff or resources
  • Assist with receiving donations to the center as well as distributing medical equipment donations
  • Receive mail and assist with outgoing mail projects as needed
  • Assist with outgoing calls to assist staff with scheduling appointments, collecting information, passing along information, and more as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • High degree of reliability
  • Friendly, outgoing demeanor and excellent customer skills
  • Basic familiarity with telephone and computer equipment (e.g., phone messaging, email)
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively
  • Good decision making skills and ability to multitask
  • Commitment to CFPA’s mission and values, including promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion
  • Up-to-date on Covid-19 vaccination

In July 2021, HSC expanded by absorbing The Giving Tree, another not-for-profit organization, committed to providing residential services to people living in affordable housing, including access to culturally-specific food, throughout Portland; merger of these two organizations form CFPA.
