Do you like to socialize and spend time with children? We are looking for a Hall Monitor/ COVID team member to oversee the general safety of the school campus. This volunteer opportunity is ideal for newcomers, retirees, and students who are looking for a way to give back to the community.
The STEM Montessori Academy of Canada is a federally registered not for profit regional science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) program open to all students with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application. The STEM program educates students from preschool to high school and is available nationwide to all children. SMAC specializes in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)
Start Date: May 9, 2022
Hours: 2, 4, or 6 hour shifts available
Our successful volunteers have these characteristics:
-Enjoys socializing and spending time with children
-Demonstrate courtesy and respect in dealing with students, parents, visitors, etc.
-Ability to show versatility in dealing with unique problems
-Reliable and able to commit to 1-week increments
-Self-directed and Motivated Learner
-Passion for education
-Enthusiastic and exemplifies a good work ethic
-Dedicated and committed
-Great at planning, organization, leadership and teamwork and time management
Duties & Responsibilities:
-Patrolling hallways, School grounds, playgrounds
-Occasionally act as a chaperone on field trips off school grounds
-Performing COVID checks at the door for staff, students and visitors
-Keep accurate records of COVID and visitor logs
-Other duties as assigned by administration
Requirements:
-Interpersonal skills
-Ability to remain calm is stressful conditions
-Previous experience working with children
-Ability to work alone and in a team environment
-Exceptional communication skills with a diverse clientele
-Vulnerable sector search within the last 12 months within date of issue.
