Committee members are needed for a fundraising event on October 7th.
Every fall (except for during the pandemic) Sisters Place hosts a fundraiser - it used to be a breakfast but we’re converting it to a luncheon and giving it a bit of reboot. It will be on October 7 th 11-2pm (ish) at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh. This will be a sit-down event with a short Sisters Place program and will include a keynote speaker.
We’ll start evening Zoom meetings sometime in June and they will be monthly, with it increasing to bi-weekly a month out from the event (Sept.). We do have the venue logistics covered, so the biggest support that we’re looking for is program format (finding a keynote speaker/topic), attendance recruitment, sponsorship support, and raffle basket support. We’ll also be having a gently used jewelry "sale" - this is a carry-over from our Mother’s Day event that has been permanently canceled. It was always so popular, and people kept asking us about it, so we’re going to have a table set up.
If you're interested and can meet for evening meetings, we'd love to talk with you!

Mission Statement
sisters Place is a supportive housing community committed to assisting single parent families who are homeless in Southwestern PA. Our mission is to assist families toward self-sufficiency by providing housing and supportive services.
Description
Sisters Place offers many programs and services to our families. Parents and kids at Sisters Place are provided with all of the basic tools and supportive services that they need to become self-sufficient, and break the cycle of poverty. Sisters Place provides case management, goal planning, counseling, education and job training for mothers and fathers in residence. In addition, we provide parenting education, family activities and in-home supportive services to help build safer and healthier home environments. Support groups and educational seminars occur at our Program Center on a regular basis. Parental participation in the children’s programs is highly encouraged as a tool to strengthen family relationships.
Other services include a monthly food distribution coordinated through the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, subsidized rent, assistance with transportation, and much more. The goal is to empower the parents to make conscious choices that can positively impact the quality of their lives, of their children, and of the community.
