Come help us at our Take Steps Walk benefiting the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation! We'll need help with set-up, participant check-in, handing out snacks, cheering on walkers and more.

Shifts may be combined. All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and meal/snack during their shift. All time spent on the events are eligible for community service hours. For additional information or to confirm a shift, please contact Michael Zumpano at mzumpano@crohnscolitisfoundation.org and use the subject line "Take Steps Volunteer".

Set Up: 9:00am-12:00pm

Help place signage, hang balloons, set out tables and chairs and other miscellaneous jobs to prepare our "festival area" for the walks.

Walk Support: 1:00 pm-4:00pm

You'll be assigned to work at one of our tents including registration, t-shirt pick up, start/finish line helpers, cheer squads on the route, etc.

Take Down: 3:00-5:00pm

Once walkers are on the route, the take down crew will start organizing materials and returning them to our truck. During the last hour this group will help take down signage, clean up decorations and break down tables/chairs.

About Crohn's and Colitis Foundation - Illinois Chapter

Location:

2200 E. Devon Avenue, Suite 351, Des Plaines, IL 60018, US

Mission Statement

To cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.

Description

The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. It was founded in 1967 by Irwin M. and Suzanne Rosenthal, William D. and Shelby Modell, and Henry D. Janowitz, M.D.

Four decades ago, the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation created the field of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis research. Today, the Foundation funds cutting-edge studies at major medical institutions, nurtures investigators at the early stages of their careers, and finances underdeveloped areas of research. Educational workshops and symposia, together with our scientific journal, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, enable medical professionals to keep pace with this rapidly growing field. No wonder the National Institutes of Health has commended the Foundation for "uniting the research community and strengthening IBD research."
