Rich cultural heritage, including two historic villages and a lighthouse are home to centuries of history. Fishermen and campers drive the beaches in 4x4 vehicles and a ranger-station and two dozen cabins offer a brief respite from the elements. Pristine night-sky conditions have allowed Cape Lookout National Seashore to become an International Dark Sky Park in 2022, the first park to achieve this certification on the Eastern Seaboard. Astronomy events, and other park ranger-led activities offer unforgettable experiences for visitors and volunteers alike.
