ORGANIZATION: Interfaith Volunteer Care Givers of Greater New Haven

Help support Mae's Closet, a medical equipment lending bank located in Hamden, Connecticut. We provide safe, clean and FREE medical equipment to people who need it, when they need it.

The Closet is open weekdays from 1 to 4 p.m., and also receives and responds to phone calls from 9 a.m. to noon. We are looking for volunteers with weekday availability, and the ability to visit the Closet in Hamden to help distribute equipment. We will teach you what you need to know.

To assist the elderly, 60+, by fostering independent living and reducing isolation. We support volunteers who provide free neighborly services with compassion, faith and love.


Provide free services to the elderly: friendly visiting, rides to the doctor, phone reassurance etc.

  • We are looking for volunteers who can make a monthly commitment to support the Closet. Specific times and days will be discussed with our program facilitators.
  • Heavy lifting is not required but volunteers should be able to move equipment in and out of storage.
