FAR is looking for energetic and compassionate volunteers to help with Camp Sing Out! This is a music theatre camp for teens and young adults (ages 13-26) with special needs. Volunteers would be one-on-one theatre buddies, helping campers with scripts, stage placement, music and choreography. No musical experience is necessary!! Volunteers need to be available for the whole camp. We ask that all volunteers be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Description

FAR Therapeutic Arts and Recreation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing a space for folks with special needs to enrich their lives. Founded in 1951, we work with clients of all ages, introducing them to new activities and experiences, helping them gain a deeper understanding of themselves and showing them new ways to communicate how they feel.

Through the dedication of our highly-trained staff and the support of partners and collaborating organizations throughout Metro Detroit, we offer music, art, dance/movement and recreational therapy for children and adults with a variety of special needs diagnoses. We go into schools in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties to provide music, art, dance/movement and recreational therapy for students receiving special education services. We work to expose our clients to new avenues of expression which serve to improve how they relate and interact with their environments and families.

  • Volunteers are needed each day from 8:45am-1:15pm. Volunteers may be asked to stay later during the second week to help set the stage for our performance.
  • Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination, Background check, Orientation on July 7th beginning at 6:00pm.
