Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) is a community-based not-for-profit community development corporation that offers comprehensive housing preservation, youth and family services, career and education, college success, and organizing programs. The mission of Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation is to build a strong, sustainable Cypress Hills/East New York, where youth and adults achieve educational and economic success, secure healthy and affordable housing, and develop leadership skills to transform their lives and community.
We are looking for volunteers to engage with community residents, build relationships with the community, and share information on what CHLDC has to offer to the Cypress Hills/East New York communities. This is a great opportunity for volunteers who are looking to complete their community service hours.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct at least 1-2 times in-person outreach on a weekly basis at food pantries, places of worship, community organizations, shopping centers, and more.
- Distribute flyers about CHLDC services and COVID-19 vaccine information from the Department of Health
- Meet your neighbors and help your community!
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
Travel:
- Travel around Cypress Hills and East NY neighborhoods will be required

Description
Located in the Cypress Hills neigborhood in Brooklyn, Cypress Hills LDC serves 8,000 residents annually. CHLDC's programs strengthen the area's physical and economic infrastructure, provide quality educational and social services, and foster local leaders. One of its initiatives in the Student Success Center, located on the Franklin K. Lane High School campus, which provides comprehensive services to support students in overcoming barriers to college attainment and post-secondary success.
