The purpose of our Toronto Food Insecurity Project is to connect the extensive network of various food programs to provide a local fresh produce supply for neighbourhoods in the Greater Toronto Area that suffers from food insecurity. If you are interested in joining us to make a crucial change for our local communities, please feel free to review the proposal attached for more details.

The Volunteer Drivers will work directly with the Operations Director at the Toronto Food Insecurity Project. Key tasks and responsibilities will include organizing, delivering, and recording excessive food and fresh produce to those in need. In the past months the ClimateScience Toronto team has been designing and outreaching to different non-profit organizations in Toronto to develop a network that reduces food waste. We are currently seeking passionate volunteers to help us launch the Toronto Food Insecurity Project.

Your Responsibilities

Organize and Delivery

  • Delivers inventory with student volunteers on assigned transit route
  • Working with other volunteers organizing food inventories to prevent damages
  • Records transit time to help us improving efficiency


Connection and Development

  • Building network with volunteers shares same passion on sustainability
  • Connects with local business and non-profit organizations
  • Working with the Operations Director by p roviding any suggestions or feedbacks for operational improvements

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

We are looking for self-driven, energized, impact-focused individuals who:

  • Owns a G or G2 Driver’s License
  • Owns a personal vehicle
  • Wants to contribute as a part of the solution for urban food insecurity and food deserts
  • Interest in learning how a non-profit organization operates
  • Excellent people skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good navigation and organizational skills
