The Shop is Arlington Public Library's maker space. The Glowforge laser cutter is one of our most popular pieces of equipment. Before patrons can use the laser cutter, they must take a certification class so they can use the laser cutter safely. The class is already designed.

Class Description:
This class will go over the basics of laser cutting, safety procedures, and the required software (Inkscape). Students will then be required to design and successfully cut a simple .svg file. Previous knowledge of design software is recommended.

We are looking for 4 total volunteers to co-lead our basic class.

  • 2 volunteers would lead the class on Monday evenings twice a month
  • 2 volunteers would lead the class on Tuesday mornings twice a month

Volunteers must have some laser cutter experience and be comfortable teaching adult students.
