Cora Dance seeks dedicated, energetic, and hardworking individuals to assist with preparation, execution, and strike of the 10th Annual Red Hook Community Prom.

The 10th Annual Red Hook Community Prom will take place on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 7pm-11pm at South Brooklyn Community High School.

ABOUT THE RED HOOK COMMUNITY PROM:
Think back. Wasn’t your high school prom the most magical night of your teenage life? OR... was it a nightmare??? Crying in the bathroom, a fight with your date, and that dress you thought was, like, so totally awesome? Three other people wore it (and had better shoes.) Whether you want to relive it or re-do it, THE RED HOOK COMMUNITY PROM is the place to make your prom dreams come true! With photo booth by FOBO Studios; an incredible silent auction; live performances; and throwback 70s, 80s, and 90s hits spun by DJ Robert Lux ( featured at Lollapalooza and Super Bowl XLVIII official in-stadium Pre-Party), there’s no inhibition on the dance floor at THIS prom, because HOLY PROM QUEEN Y’ALL...the punch is spiked by Dry Dock of Red Hook! Come be your best self at THE 10th ANNUAL 2022 RED HOOK COMMUNITY PROM!

Proceeds raised during the Red Hook Community Prom support the FREE and PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN dance education programs for over 200 students annually in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The 10th Annual Red Hook Community Prom is sponsored by Apotheke, Formula E, and Realty Collective.

Mission Statement

Cora Dance is a Red Hook arts-based service organization. Through its professional company, youth companies, wraparound services, and sliding scale dance education programs, Cora provides exceptional dance experiences while addressing impediments that restrict people from having access to the art form. With trust, collaboration, solidarity, and mutual respect as central values, Cora works in deeply personalized ways. Using dance as the access point, community members are introduced to one another through Cora and grow to build trust, collaborate, and reap the benefits of a stronger, more unified community. Cora is dance for everyone. All programs and performances are pay-what-you-can, no one is turned away based on what or if they can pay, and priority is given to residents who live in NYCHA, Section-8 housing, or who are unhoused.

Description

Cora Dance provides arts programs to Red Hook through our professional modern dance company, Shannon Hummel/Cora Dance, Youth Companies, In-Studio and Satellite training programs, and internships and apprenticeships. Cora Dance makes all programs, performances, events, and studio rentals available to all regardless of their ability to pay through our pay-what-you-can model.
