This is a short-term role to deliver flyers to a variety of community spaces in 1st and 2nd ring suburbs!
The Community Equity Program (CEP) is an immersive political leadership program at Wilder that brings together up to 20 Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) who want to get involved in state-level policy and fight for change in their communities. You can help local community members find our program! Flyers will focus on encouraging BIPOC leaders to submit applications by the upcoming CEP deadline of June 1.
We need your help to reach local community hubs, such as BIPOC-owned businesses, places of worship, community centers and more, and drop off materials in 1st and 2nd ring suburbs within the 7-county metro area (Minneapolis and St. Paul proper are already covered). You'll search online to find places to deliver to. You may choose to call ahead or just stop by locations and ask if you can leave materials there. You can volunteer individually or with a partner - whichever you prefer. Flexible timing based around your availability. Must be completed in May 2022.
Qualifications Needed:
- Access to transportation to visit local organizations within the 7-county metro region beyond Minneapolis and St. Paul in 1st and 2nd ring suburbs.
- Comfort using technology and searching online to identify community hubs for dropping off flyers, such as BIPOC-owned businesses, mosques, temples, coffee shops, nonprofits, etc.
- Comfort walking into new spaces and approaching people to ask about flyering options.
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to interact with and assist people of varying backgrounds, cultures and identities, including race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, ability, gender, etc.
