Recruiting Organization: Catholic Charities Community Service of Arizona
Catholic Charities Community Services’ mission is to help the community’s most vulnerable with solutions that permanently improve lives. We are committed to serving people regardless of their race, ethnicity, economic status or religious affiliation. CCCS currently serves 23,000 persons annually in central and northern Arizona. You can be a huge part of this by joining Catholic Community Services as the Volunteer Service Coordinator VISTA! Come use your skills to protect and nurture children, strengthen and reunify families, shelter the homeless and abused, welcome and assist refugees, aid those in crisis and help the impoverished. CCCS' CARE Campus is a multi-service community center located in the heart of Mesa. CARE Campus and their partners serve the children and families in the community by offering after school services, prenatal care, early childhood education (Head Start), and a holiday assistance program called the Emergency Santa Program. The Emergency Santa Program provides invaluable help for parents during the holiday season. Parents volunteer their time at a local school, church, CARE Campus or other nonprofit organization and in exchange, CARE Campus provides new toys for the parents so they can ensure that their children receive a gift under the tree on Christmas morning.
Kelvin Ontiveros, the current Care Campus Volunteer and Emergency Santa Coordinator VISTA, noted, "I will always remember that winter I helped over 400 kids get Christmas presents and the smile it brought to the parents that could bring a gift home."
If you are interested in ending poverty, empowering communities, building capacity, and creating sustainable solutions, there could be a rewarding placement for you.
