Greet neighborhood residents and help them access community programs!
The United Jewish Council of the East Side (UJCES) supports the Lower East Side and wider NYC community with human services and community development programs. While the majority of services are oriented to older adults, UJCES also has programs for families and children. UJCES volunteers are essential to our mission as we serve New Yorkers.
NORC Program Greeter Volunteers assist at a NORC (Naturally Occurring Retirement Community) program at Masaryk Towers (75 Columbia Street).
As a volunteer, your tasks would include:
- Greeting and welcoming visitors to the community center
- Providing information about programs
- Assisting with sign-in and registration
- Answering questions
Bilingual language fluency in Spanish, Cantonese, and/or Mandarin is helpful but not required.
Shifts are offered weekdays, and an ongoing commitment is strongly encouraged. Training is provided on site. You must be 18+ years old to volunteer.
You join compassionate people in helping older adults receive community resources.
Volunteers planning to only serve during summer are encouraged to serve two shifts weekly, for at least two months, as long as shifts are available.
