We are searching for a talented social media volunteer to represent our company by adding to our social media presence for our brand. The social media volunteers support our advertising campaigns and drive engagement by creating high-quality original content. You should also engage influencers, manage our community by responding to comments, and oversee our customer service across designated platforms.

The role of the Marketing and Social Media volunteer will be to assist the staff in promoting mission through food and nutritious and savory recipes aimed at reconnecting the community with cultural dishes target audiences can relate to.

Position in Human Biology

Reports to: Senior Health Educator

Main relationships: The role is very much about communicating externally and building relationships with potential and current participants and the future of Human Biology. The Marketing and Social Media Manager will be volunteering alongside staff members, in particular the certified Vegan Nutrition Health Coaches.

Person specification

The role would suit someone who:

  • Is a graduate in marketing, a more experienced photographer, a cook, or someone who is looking to gain experience in a new field.
  • Has some experience of marketing and social media, either through education, work or volunteering.
  • Is familiar with using social media and other online tools to generate interest in a business or project.
  • Is an excellent communicator.
  • Is able to write clearly, accurately and succinctly.
  • Can be flexible with their time updating social media channels. The volunteer will also be expected to attend some of our events and workshops with a view to reporting on them.
  • Has an interest in food, health, and the environment.

The role

  1. Developing Human Biology’s social media presence with a particular focus on:
  • Keeping our social media channels updated daily
  • Encouraging feedback on posts and sharing with others
  • Attracting new audiences to the pool of people following Human Biology on Facebook and Instagram.
  • Promoting our membership scheme
  • Building Human Biology's brand awareness
  • Setting, working towards, and reporting on social media objectives and targets.
  1. Undertaking one of the following projects:
  • Copywriting: Planning and writing a blog, or preparing and posting recipes.This could be based on published recipe authors, a profile of a member of staff or a volunteer, or another aspect of Human Biology.Increasing inbound links to Human Biology's community booking website: Researching and updating online listings and negotiating reciprocal links with likeminded websites such as those relating to food, environment, adult learning, children’s activities and schools.
  • Another project: If you have a particular area of knowledge or an interest area you would like to pursue, you are welcome to propose a project for you to undertake.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating company social media advertising campaigns (at no cost to you).
  • Formulating high-quality novel written and visual content.
  • Building a social media presence by maintaining a solid online presence.
  • Monitoring the company's brand on social media.
  • Building brand awareness by engaging relevant influencers.
  • Managing our online communities to ensure respectful and appropriate engagement.
  • Responding to comments on delegated accounts.
  • Overseeing customer service provided via social media.
  • Analyzing data to determine whether social media campaigns have achieved their objectives.

Human Biology's focus is to drive down the incidence/prevalence rates for non-communicable disease in food deserts with the goal of turning other food deserts into flourishing epicenters for mental/physical healing using food as the primary medium. As a platform that showcases culinary medicine, our whole food plant based-centered focus taps into biomimetic sustainability as a solution for urban and natural environments.

Description

Our classes take place in community centers local to the populations which we serve. Often this includes cuisines with a whole food plant-based focus rooted in culture. Human Biology offers Vegan Nutrition Basics and Healthy Meal Prep. Here, the participants learn the basics and importance of vegan nutrition, and how to prepare healthy meals. With the help of a local Vegan Nutrition Health Coach, your community develops a healthy relationship with food!
