Recruiting Organization: African Library Project

We are a lean, primarily volunteer-based, non-profit organization. Our Board of Directors consists of talented, energetic professionals who volunteer their efforts to create libraries in schools and communities of sub-Saharan Africa. We are candid, rigorous, and serious about making a difference, yet we are light-hearted with each other at the same time.

Our ideal board member will have a passion for Africa and literacy. Bonus pointes for having experience in Africa. As a board member you will be part of one or two committees based on your expertise. Our board members are responsible in making decisions around the strategic direction of the organization and in executing those decisions with the help of the staff and other volunteers.

We are looking for board members who have one or more of the following skills and expertise:

  • Legal
  • Finance
  • Grant Writing
  • Donor Cultivation and Development
  • Event Planning
  • Fundraising
  • Marketing/Public Relations/Communications
  • Operations
  • Project Management
  • Salesforce Administration (Information Technology)
  • Engagement with African communities (strongly preferred)
  • International development
  • Library work
  • Literacy education
