Recruiting Organization: Trinity Wall Street

Objective

To continue Trinity’s history of service to under-resourced people of Manhattan by packing bags of lunch food, to be distributed to food-insecure populations. Serving only lunch for the past two years, the Compassion Meals program is proud to announce that it is expanding its offerings to include breakfast and dinner. These meals feed hundreds of people a week and work to strengthen a sense of community in the neighborhood.

Location

Distributions: Trinity Church Courtyard (Monday - Friday)

Packs: Trinity Commons Lower Level (Thursday & Friday)

Opportunities

You may choose one or multiple days/times, please explain which days you would like to volunteer in your application.

Packing

• Lunch Pack: Thursdays from 10:45am-12:15pm.
• Volunteer duties: Assisting with setting up inventory, packing lunches, and breaking down cardboard boxes.
• Groceries Pack: Fridays from 9:30am-10:30am.
• Volunteer duties: Assisting with setting up inventory, packing grocery bags, and breaking down cardboard boxes.
• Street Outreach Pack: Every other Thursday from 10:45am-12:15pm.
• Volunteer duties: Assisting with setting up inventory, packing bags, and breaking down cardboard boxes.

Distribution

• Breakfast Distribution: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 am-10:30 am.
• Volunteer duties: Assisting with setting up, serving, and cleaning up.
• Lunch Distribution: Monday-Friday from 11:30am-1:30pm.
• Volunteer duties: Assisting with setting up, serving, and cleaning up. Additionally, distribution of grocery bags on Fridays.
• Dinner Distribution: Fridays (beginning once a month, eventually becoming once a week) from 4:30pm-6:30pm.
• Volunteer duties: Assisting with setting up, serving, and cleaning up.

Qualifications

No experience required; all you need is a positive attitude!

Would prefer if volunteers could commit to full shifts, but not discouraged if they cannot.
