Are you looking for a fun, hands-on way to make a difference in our community? Work on the Asheville Habitat construction sites to learn new construction skills (or put your old ones to use!) and help out your neighbors. At Asheville Habitat, our volunteers build new homes for low and moderate income residents and repair homes for local homeowners with limited means. Come join us for a day, a job, or a weekly commitment and learn how to frame a house, build a ramp, install grab bars, or lay flooring.

Volunteers with our Home Repair and New Home Construction teams learn new skills while helping folks live safely and affordably in Buncombe County. Our New Home Construction is taking place at a central location that will eventually boast 96 affordable homes. Our Home Repair clients are homeowners with limited means, mostly older folks, throughout Buncombe County that need a little help to make sure their homes are safe and secure.

As one volunteer recently noted: "Habitat is the highlight of my week. I leave with my body sore but my heart singing."

No experience is necessary, just come prepared to work hard and have a great time!

Volunteer opportunities available Monday-Thursday 8-3:30 on Home Repair, and Monday - Thursday and Saturday from 8:15 - 3:15 in New Home. Friday shifts on both jobsites run until noon and half-day shifts on Home Repair can be arranged M-T in advance.

Go to https://www.ashevillehabitat.org/how-to-help/volunteer/ and click the blue sign up to volunteer to get started!

We are often able to accommodate groups on either jobsite. Please reach out directly to swallace@ashevillehabitat.org with inquiries about large and small groups.
