About Global Crisis Response (GCR):
Global Crisis Response is a systematic effort aimed at collectively exploring the best means to articulate & navigate the current era of the Anthropocene characterized by Climate Change, Scarcity, Chaos & Uncertainty. It is the flagship initiative of Orb Tranz Research & Broadcasting Foundation, a not for profit (Section-8 Company) registered in Mumbai, India.
JOB DESCRIPTIONS (JD):
GCR Directory - data collection, analysis & reach-out is the most critical project for us. It is a very challenging assignment for the volunteer as it involves exploring meaningful sustainability, collapse, resilience, risk-management efforts globally scattered globally. The project has a potential for exploring uncharted territories and completely shift one's perspective about the nature of humanity's existential predicament today as well possible future scenarios.
GCR has formulated a framework that helps classify all organizations, efforts, responses globally into three categories namely:
1. Business as Usual (BAU)
2. Weak Sustainability (WS)
3. Strong Sustainability (SS)
GCR-Directory is an attempt at identifying & bringing together all GCR-aligned (SS) organizations, individuals & responses in a single directory. This will benefit our viewers immensely as well as enable us to analyze data and produce useful & actionable reports.
This is a multi-tasking- online research, analysis, report making & networking profile involving the following tasks:
- The volunteer will create a structure of the GCR-Directory in consultation with PD
- Create new and upgrade existing Directory (if necessary make contact with concerned organization for accuracy)
- Analyze the data for key insights, useful research questions, essay/blog topics
- Produce summary reports in alignment with GCR strategies
- Support content production team with relevant desk research support
- Reach-out with GCR aligned thought leaders & organizations for collaborations
- Any other related task as required by the Project Director
Who can apply?
- Open minded and willing to engage with critical, relevant yet non-mainstream ideas
- Interested in engaging with us for medium to long-term volunteer projects (minimum of 3 months commitment required)
- Looking for a career shift into research, activism, advocacy, journalism
Core Qualification & Expertise:
- Graduates & above (preferably some understanding of issues related to Environment, Ecological Economics, Alternative Economics, Post-growth, Climate Change, Sustainability, Climate Justice, etc.) &/or with 1 or more years of relevant experience.
- Experience in networking & reach-out
- Well versed with social media use relevant to the information gathering & networking

- Although Climate Change is an important aspect of our work it is not the primary focus
- Candidates who are passionate, committed towards holistic learning, dedication to stick with the work and can have patience with a new NGO that is just getting going will benefit the most from this opportunity.
- Ideally committing 3-4 months will help the candidate to get the most out of this project
- We are a budding organization with meagre resources and supervision capabilities, so please be aware that you will need to be flexible and self-motivated. In exchange we do offer a unique research experience in a welcoming and passionate team, and a chance to explore radical and non-mainstream ideas outside of traditional institutions.
