PIKE MARKET SENIOR CENTER & FOOD BANK

Program facilitators are at the heart of Pike Market Senior Center activities.

We're welcoming a growing number of older adults living in downtown Seattle to participate in new meaningful activities and programs, online and onsite, that encourage well-being and lifelong learning.

That's where you come in. If you have an interest, skill, or knowledge, you'd like to share to help enrich the lives of older adults who have limited resources, join us!

Currently, we are recruiting volunteers to lead or support new member-requested programs. Activities include social, educational, creative, fitness & health, and support groups, such as:

  • Local history, arts, music guest speakers

  • Diabetes, caregiver, "creative aging"

  • Computer, technology

  • Writing and journaling

  • Languages

  • Dancing - all forms

  • Karaoke

  • Yoga, Tai Chi

  • Strength and balance, Meditation

  • Drawing, painting, watercolor, crafts

  • Book and movie club

Becoming part of the programming volunteer team is easy!

Go to our website volunteer page and apply:
https://www.pmsc-fb.org/volunteer

Share with us if any of the above activities sounds like your skills and interests’ match. Or, if you have a specialty you'd like to share--we'd love to hear! As a volunteer facilitator, you'll receive information about the PMSC vision, mission, and approach to our unique community building.

Due to the vulnerable population we serve, volunteers must complete an application form, pass a Washington State Patrol check and attend an orientation.

Please select the "I Want to Help" button for more information about this opportunity or others.

About: PMSC was founded 45 years ago and is located at Pike Place Market. PMSC recently received funding from King County, WA, to reach more people and expand its programming into downtown Seattle. Join our volunteer team to continue to set our community apart as a hub for seniors' lifelong learning and wellness, onsite and online! Learn more at https://www.pmsc-fb.org/

Mission Statement

In downtown Seattle, the Pike Market Senior Center strives to make each day better and safer for older adults; the Pike Market Food Bank serves people of all ages who face hunger. Together, we provide services, activities, and support that lead to more self sufficient and fulfilling lives.

Description

The Pike Market Senior Center & Food Bank is located in the historic Pike Place Market. We have been serving our neighbors in the heart of Seattle since 1978.

The Senior Center serves people age 55 and up. Membership is free and there are no fees for meals, services or regular activities. While people from all walks of life are members of PMSC, we are pioneers in offering senior center programming to elders who are homeless.

The Food Bank serves people of any age, offering free groceries, ready-to-eat food for clients experiencing homelessness, and home delivery for qualified residents of Downtown Seattle. We serve 800 in-person grocery clients weekly and distribute over 300 grocery deliveries.
