*This is a one year service term as a full-time AmeriCorps VISTA Member beginning July 5, 2022
Member Duties : Help veterans obtain access to emotional support and service animals to assist in coping with the impacts of a traumatic brain injury (TBI) or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) with Dog Tag Buddies! The overall goal of this project is to connect veterans seeking healthcare services to treat PTSD and / or TBI to emotional support or service animals through Dog Tag Buddies. The VISTA involved in this project will assist Dog Tag Buddies in its path to receiving Assistance Dogs International (ADI) accreditation through the review and refinement of all policies, procedures, and quality controls. Official accreditation will boost the organizations funding stream, allowing them to invest more into the healthcare services they provide. The VISTA will expand support for Dog Tag Buddies by assisting with material and technological developments that streamline the current client tracking system in order to make it more safe, accessible, and sustainable for current and future veterans.
