Girls on the Run Palm Beach
Contemplating life as a "Girl on the Run"

Are you looking for a unique service leadership opportunity that allows you to put your lived experiences to direct good use? Girls on the Run Palm Beach County is seeking 2 board members to add to our board of directors. The individuals for this office will each serve a 2-year term.

Every person can bring something to the table and that means you. Whether you are good at marketing, business development, media, connections to schools, financial experience, connections to possible donors, sports, you are just a people person, or any other skill, we need you.

At Girls on the Run Palm Beach County, we strive to be an inclusive organization that honors multiple approaches and points of view. We believe diversity drives innovation and celebrates the spirit and opportunity of our community. To ensure we best represent the communities we serve, BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals, people 65 and older, and residents of Palm Beach County are encouraged to apply.

Some meetings are on zoom but we meet in person once a quarter.

WHAT OUR ORGANIZATION DOES: Girls on the Run, encourages girls of all abilities to recognize their individual strengths and celebrate connections with others. Our tested curricula blend physical activity with skill development that enables girls to adapt to whatever comes their way. Different versions of the curriculum ensure that no matter how many times girls participate, there is always something new to explore and learn. In today’s unpredictable world, the strategies girls learn at Girls on Run are more important than ever.

About Girls on the Run Palm Beach

316 Valencia Road, West Palm Beach, FL 33401, US

Mission Statement

We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

Girls on the Run is a 501(c)3 positive youth development program which combines an interactive curriculum and running to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen girls. Our core curriculum addresses many aspects of girls' development - their physical, emotional, mental and social well-being. Lessons provide girls with the tools to make positive decisions and to avoid risky adolescent behaviors.

The objective of Girls on the Run is to educate and empower girls at an early age in order to prevent the display of at-risk activities in the future. At risk activities include substance/alcohol use, eating disorders, early onset of sexual activity, sedentary lifestyle, depression, suicide attempts and confrontations with the juvenile justice system

Program Design

The program is a 24-lesson curriculums that teaches life skills through group processing, running games and workouts. The three-part curriculum is taught by certified Girls on the Run coaches and includes understanding ourselves, valuing teamwork and understanding how we connect with and shape the world at large. Groups are limited to 15 participants

Girls choose and conduct a community service project

At each season's conclusion, the girls complete a 5k running event as a group, These events will occur in November/ December and April each year.

The Palm Beach Girls on the Run Council will hold two programs a year coinciding with the school year and commencing late August and late January.
