ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Mammoth Cave National Park is known as a place of exploration and discovery. The unprecedented labyrinth that lies below our feet and the nearly 53,000 acres of forested parkland leave visitors in wonder what the park holds. Our rich history and natural systems have earned Mammoth Cave National Park a designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, International Biosphere Reserve, and the recognition as an International Dark Sky Park.

Come help us help visitors enjoy diverse recreational adventures in camping, hiking, biking, paddling, or touring caves by serving as the park's 2022 Summer Campground Host.

Main Duties include staffing the campground fee booth at the Headquarters Campground at Mammoth Cave National Park. Provide customer service to campers including reservation check ins/outs, and registration for non-registered campers on a government computer (dependent on background check and training). Rove campgrounds to monitor visitor safety and campground maintenance issues. Direct traffic to overflow parking areas during heavy visitation, and other duties as assigned.

The Volunteer Campground Host will be provided with a fee-free, shaded RV Pad with full amenities (includes campground fire ring, picnic table, and water-electric-sewer hookups). Volunteer(s) are required to serve a minimum of 35 hours per week per occupant.

Volunteers that live locally can be scheduled on a part-time basis.
