THE PROJECT: Create Content for our Language Learning Readiness Curriculum

We are looking for a technical writer/e-learning developer intern to help us design our curriculum for our modern language acquisition readiness training program, part of our Guided and Personalized Learning service. The purpose of this program is to provide a modern learning experience and guide independent language learners (one of our target segments) by answering questions like "How do I learn a language? What do I need to know? What do I need to do? How do I do it?" We are treating language as a skill, not a school subject. To learn a skill, one needs to develop a set of subskills with the support of a knowledge base and methods/strategies and tools to help develop such skill. For example, to learn to drive, one needs to know about car parts and about traffic signs (knowledge base), learn to park, change a tire (subskills), and know how to develop those subskills (methods/strategies and tools to use) and become a good driver. The same goes for learning a language. Therefore, this training will prepare our clients in becoming efficient and effective autonomous language learners. Our team as well as other interns have conducted extensive research on second language acquisition, linguistics, and e-learning. Now it is time to transform the information we have gathered into easy-to-understand, coherent, and concise content, which will later be transformed into user-friendly video crash courses, infographics, articles, and guides. The content you help us write will also serve as training material for our language coaches.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

You and your team will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing our gathered research and select one of the following content topics (language skills):
    • Speaking
    • Listening
    • Reading
    • Writing
    • Vocabulary
    • Grammar
    • Pronunciation
  • Synthesizing research into clear course content outlines
  • Transform synthesized information into written content organized by the following tentative categories:
    • Knowledge base (what learners need to know)
    • Subskill development (what learners need to do)
    • Learning strategies (methods, strategies, activities learners can use)
  • Collaborate with our linguist and make adjustments to the content as needed
