Tens of thousands of children are growing up in foster care, with no plans or hope for a permanent home.In a effort to move children to a permanent home as soon as possible, the foster care review system was created. Foster Care Review board is a board of citizen volunteers appointed by the Juvenile Court to periodically review foster care cases. It serves the quasi-judicial function of advising the court concerning the status of the permanency process of each child in foster care. The may review cases of delinquents and status offenders in addition to abused and neglected children.
We are looking looking for volunteers who are 18 years or older in the Memphis & Shelby County community to help us make a difference in the lives of foster children.
The review board meetings are scheduled on the 1st and 2nd Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each month. The meetings will be held virtually through Zoom beginning at 9:00 a.m.- and continues until the agenda is completed.

Description
In 1976, the Tennessee General Assembly passed a law mandating foster care review by citizen review boards. Foster Care Review Board is composed of citizen volunteers appointed by the Juvenile Court Judge. The board serves as the quasi-judicial function of advising the Court about the permanency process of each child in foster care. Foster care was originally designed to serve as temporary placement for children. Tens of thousands of children are growing up in foster care, with no plans or hope for a permanent home. In an effort to move children to a permanent home as soon as possible, the foster care review system was created, linking the efforts of child welfare agencies, the courts, and community resources.
