In the last three decades the number of dumb and deaf children on Kenya’s villages has grown steadily.
In Mombasa, 20 km west of the Indian ocean, there are several thousands of dumb and deaf children who spend the majority of their time wandering.

These children are sometimes stigmatized and isolated within their own families, leaving them vulnerable to a large range of isolation, rape, uneducated, and naked.

Some of these young people work in the villages, wandering, begging, and in prostitution. In 2020 the Civicom Aid started Leen Special School to meet the needs of vulnerable wandering dumb and deaf children in Mombasa. We implemented a project which aims to deliver support to help dumb and deaf children living and wandering in the villages of Mombasa to get educated to improve their situation and to give them the chance for a better future.

In order to reach our goal, we need to lay an important foundation: The wandering children need 15 classrooms, 1 kitchen, 1 dinning, 2 dorms, 1 library, electricity and 18 toilets! Only if that is provided they have a stable place to go to school.

That is where we need your help!

The costs for obtaining the 3 acre land and building costs USD $110,000

  • The cost of buying land is USD $ 56000
  • The cost of building 15 classrooms is USD $ 30000
  • The cost of building 1 kitchen is USD $ 4000
  • The cost of building 2 dorms is USD $ 8000
  • The cost of building 1 library is USD $ 4000
  • The cost of building 18 toilets is USD $ 6000
  • The cost of installing electricity is USD $ 2000

It only costs USD $110,000 to lay the foundation for a dignified life. In 2025 we aim to provide 150 children with the education - to do so, we need USD $110,000 in total. Please help us reaching our goal - fund raise now!
