Volunteer to Teach English Online to Immigrants and Refugees Around the Country - No Prior Teaching Experience Needed

We are looking for patient, friendly, and enthusiastic volunteers to teach English to adults online. We provide the training, resources, and support on your journey. Create a life-changing connection with your student and join our community of committed volunteer teachers while supporting an immigrant in their journey to learn English and live in the United States. As a volunteer, you will gain access to our online Teacher Connection Hour events, in-depth teacher-training workshops, and other opportunities to connect with our community of volunteers.

  • No prior teaching experience necessary
  • No need to speak a language other than English
  • Minimal lesson planning - we provide the curriculum and resources for your lessons
  • Teach English online twice per week (90 minutes each session)
  • Minimum commitment 12 weeks (3 months)
  • Requires reliable internet connection, camera and microphone, as well as basic technology/Zoom video-conferencing skills

How does it work?

  1. Register at and complete your training (30 minutes)
  2. Get matched (2-4 weeks or less)
  3. Connect with your student and schedule your first class
  4. Teach your class using our curriculum and online slides, complete the lessons and review your progress together.
