***If you are a student wishing to do this job to get service hours, please contact your faculty member in charge of the Bright Futures program to get their approval before applying.***

Land. We need land. Wet land, to be exact. We are desperately searching for property that most people wouldn’t want. If you would like to help us on our quest, please contact us. We are working with a real estate agent but are hoping that getting the word out will help us find someone who may not have already listed their property for sale/rent.

The volunteers who fill these positions will need to know how to do basic spreadsheet data entry.

About The Muscovy Sanctuary of Florida

Location:

12818 Raysbrook Drive, Riverview, FL 33569, US

Mission Statement

We are a team of volunteers who rescue, transport, foster, and care for injured and abandoned Muscovy ducks and ducklings. Once we have the ducks checked for injury and illness, we move them on to the sanctuary, where they live out the rest of their lives.

Description

The Situation

You found three cute, little Muscovy ducklings wandering around on the sidewalk peeping their little heads off. They lost their mom, and you can’t find her anywhere.

Obviously, you can’t leave them out there all alone, so you scoop them up and put them in a box with a towel in the bottom and keep them warm. Now, what do you do? You can’t keep them; you aren’t equipped to raise three ducks. You find out about a veterinarian in the area who will take the ducklings. Problem solved.

Unfortunately, taking them to a vet would result in their euthanasia; rehabbers don't deal with them because they aren't indigenous, and leaving them would cause them to likely die.

Enter the Muscovy Sanctuary of Florida, a place where Muscovy ducklings can safely grow and thrive without the fear of being killed. We are a non-profit organization created to take in those Muscovy ducklings that veterinarians and wildlife rehabbers don’t want.
