At Amedisys Lake Charles we offer three types of Volunteer Services:
Direct, Bereavement, and Administrative. This opportunity is for a Bereavement Volunteer
A Bereavement Volunteer is someone who has experience with loss and understands the hospice philosophy. Some Bereavement Activities might include:
Providing support prior to a patients death and immediately thereafter.
Provide emotional support at the time of death and assist the family with phone calls, making arrangements, etc.
Provide assistance for Bereavement Support Groups, such as co-facilitating or preparing refreshments, acting as a host, etc.
Carrying out task for a memorial service by making phone calls to personally invite people to the Memorial Service, making name tags, taking names of participants.
Participating in the actual memorial service by providing readings, stories, or music.
Providing assistance with mailings.
** Due to covid-19 restrictions, some of the direct care with patients have been put on hold. And at all times with patients and in the Compassionate Care office, covid-19 policy and procedures are always followed. This includes washing hands, wearing masks, social distancing and daily self- assessment reporting. **3 More opportunities with Amedisys Hospice Inc.
