You will be a conversation partner to new immigrants in an English Conversation Club/Cafe. Newcomers will learn and practice English, but also learn about local culture! All participants will build intercultural relationships based on trust and open communication!

How does the Conversation Club work? Newcomers will meet with native-speaking conversation partners and participate in discussions as a group, or one-on-one. The activities are facilitated by program staff or a volunteer. It can be focused on one main topic, or questions, or shared stories. People can bring food and refreshments.

NICERFL is committed to empowering newly arrived youth and adult immigrants, one at a time, to be self-sufficient and successfully integrate in the economic, cultural and social fabric of SW Florida!

Description

NicerFL Welcome Centers, located in Pinellas Park, USF Tampa, and Sarasota, provide comprehensive integration support for refugees and other new immigrants through a network of welcoming centers. These centers serve as safe, inclusive spaces where refugees can access services, participate in programs, and connect with others. We offer a wide range of immigrant support services, including personalized intake and newcomer immigrant support planning, English language life skills and cultural integration classes at 4 language levels, family literacy projects, career coaching, referral services, resource mentoring, well-being projects, and newcomer youth academic services.

NicerFL volunteers work hard to make sure that every new neighbor is welcomed and connected to the larger Florida community where they live. We also help newcomers transition to a new life in Florida.
