ABOUT THE POSITION

BTNY’s College and Career Success Program (CCSP) works with students virtually to navigate complex systems and barriers to successful college graduation and meaningful employment. As a BTNY College & Career Success Coach, you will be at the front lines of providing this guidance through monthly Coach Talks and ongoing relationship building. Our vision is to empower student leaders who excel academically and chart their careers successfully.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE...

  • Conducting guided monthly Coach Talks by phone/video chat or in-person to support 1-2 college students (depending on your preference) in the 4 main areas of BTNY college support: Academic, Career, Financial, and Wellness
  • Reviewing monthly curriculum & priorities before each Coach Talk
  • Sharing the information and data gathered from Coach Talks to the BTNY college team via an online portal on a monthly basis
  • Providing persistent outreach to students who may not be immediately responsive, and/or reaching out to BTNY staff for support
  • Attending mandatory orientation and bi-monthly trainings/events
  • Attending a 15-minute evaluation check-in once a year
  • Providing ongoing feedback on student(s) and the program
  • Reporting any critical student challenges to BTNY staff immediately
BTNY WILL SUPPORT YOU BY...
  • Providing monthly curriculum to guide the Coach Talks
  • Providing remote tips, updates, and highlights throughout the year
  • Conducting periodic check-ins to address concerns or highlight successes
  • Leading outreach to less engaged students
  • Taking over critical student crises

TIME COMMITMENT

  • 30-60 minutes of student interaction per month (July 2022 - June 2023)
  • 30 minutes of curriculum review and data reporting per month (July 2022 - June 2023)
  • 1 mandatory 15-minute evaluation meeting (January - March 2023)
  • 6 mandatory meetings per year (2 date options and virtual/call-in options available)
    • June 2022: Orientation (3 hours)
    • August, October 2022: 2 Trainings (1.5 hours each)
    • December 2022: Winter Social (1.5 hours)
    • February, April 2022: 2 Trainings (1.5 hours each)

WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO...

  • Is passionate about student mentorship and supporting diverse college students
  • Is comfortable with persistent outreach to students
  • Has a Bachelor’s degree
  • Will respond to emails, phone calls, and/or texts from students and staff within 48 hours
  • Is comfortable using or learning virtual platforms (ie. email, Zoom, Slack, Salesforce)
  • Has access to Google Drive Suite
  • Can commit to at least 1 full year of support, with a preference of 2 or more years
  • Near-peer preferred but not required
  • NYC-based preferred but not required
