Each year, the festival needs volunteers to help with our many amazing events and various venues. The only way we can have successful events is with the generous help from our invaluable volunteers. We welcome you to join us this year as the festival returns to an in-person experience.

If you would like to volunteer at the 2022 festival, please go to https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSehdYf1NbVOgOd61G0iRrmMttDR9uauINKbnakCcefOYgA9Ww/viewform?usp=sf_link
There are many roles for volunteers, who help us make the festival run smoothly for authors and audiences. Our most successful festival volunteers bring flexibility, a willingness to pitch in, and a positive spirit.
There are a variety of shifts available and several positions available for each event.

This year, with attention to health and safety, we require that all volunteers be fully vaccinated (authors and audience will also be asked to follow COVID 19 safety protocols), agree to wear masks, and be respectful of others’ space. We accept volunteers who are 18 years of age or older, and provide a short mandatory training session, which will be held virtually.

Mission Statement

PEN America stands at the intersection of literature and human rights to protect free expression in the United States and worldwide.
