Launch Charter School is proud to be an Official Charity Partner of the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon. For the first time, Team Launch will have 5 volunteers running the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon in November to raise a minimum of $25,000 and awareness for the organization. We can't think of a better time to take advantage of this opportunity - it's our 10 year anniversary and we are expanding to high school at Floyd Bennett Field.
What is the TCS New York City Marathon? The largest marathon in the world! The race features over 50,000 runners including the world’s top professional athletes a vast range of competitive, recreational, and charity runners.

Space is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The commitment:
- Team Launch runners commit to fundraising a minimum of $5,000 due in full by Monday, November 7, 2022.
- Runners are also responsible for the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon race registration fees ($255 for NYRR members and $295 for non-members)
- All runners taking part in any NYRR adult race will be required to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. For more information about NYRR's COVID-19 vaccination policy, click here

Mission Statement
Launch's mission is to prepare students in underserved communities to thrive in college and careers by providing a public education rooted in active learning experiences and powerful character development. We believe that students at all levels can be pushed and supported to do more than they thought possible. As an EL Education school, we believe that when a student is done with school and enters adult life, she/he will be judged for the rest of her/his life not by her performance on tests of basic skills, but by the quality of her work and the quality of her/his character.
Description
Founded in 2012, Launch Expeditionary Learning Charter School (grade 6th-8th) is part of a network of 14 EL Education schools that is part of the NYC Outward Bound Schools network. We currently serve 260 students. EL is a proven educational model being implemented in over 150 district, charter and independent schools across the country. At Launch, students engage in long-term investigations of real-world challenges and important topics in their communities. Students not only learn educational fundamentals like science, mathematics, and reading and writing skills, but they develop the 21st Century skills of creative problem solving and collaboration that will allow them to excel in college and beyond. Our education model is student centered: meaning learning occurs through play, discovery, exploration and collaboration on meaningful, rigorous projects.
Ten years after opening its doors, Launch is still the only EL Education charter school in NYC and the only charter school that is part of a district school network. After years of work creating a truly community-driven school model, the Launch community is ready to expand its impact and continue to innovate by working with community partners to build one of the most unique learning environments anywhere in the country.
