GCACC Visitor Services Volunteer

Summary:

The Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce provides networking, promotion, training, and advocacy for the region’s businesses. The Chamber also runs a year-round visitor center in the Gloucester office and a seasonal information center in Rockport from Memorial Day to Columbus Day. During the summer the primary functions of the volunteers will be, but are not limited to, receiving, and assisting in the day-to-day operations of the visitor’s centers and office. They are supported by all GCACC staff and are directly supervised by the Office Manager.

Qualifications:

Qualifications for this opportunity include enjoy interacting with people and helping with local information, knowledge of the region including local area attractions, dining and accommodations, and enjoy learning and sharing new information working knowledge of Microsoft Office and general internet use is a plus.

Duties may include:

• Interact with members/visitors either by telephone, electronically or face to face in a pleasant and efficient manner, providing helpful and accurate info
• Help process Gift Certificates and keep detailed records - Gloucester Office only
• Help organize visitor info (brochures, rack cards, etc.) and keep stocked all brochure racks
• Help compile and organize current event info
• Attend and help with special events as desired
• Help prepare mailings for requested information

Ideal Qualities:

• Friendly, welcoming, and helpful to all visitors and callers
• Able to promptly answer telephone calls and operate the telephone system
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Available to work least one four shift a week
