Recruiting Organization: South Michigan Food Bank
Each day, we feed 33,000 people in our eight county service area (Barry, Branch, Calhoun, Hillsdale, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lenawee and St. Joseph). To make all of this possible, we need enthusiastic volunteers like you!
Daily Volunteer Roles:
- Fresh Food Sorting & Packing: Our volunteers sort and pack produce into our fresh food boxes. These boxes consist of 20+ pounds of fresh fruits and veggies, dairy products and others staple items. We are currently packing and distributing 3,700 boxes of fresh food each week.
- Clean room: Volunteers repackage bulk items, such as cereal, frozen broccoli, granola, into family size bags for distribution.
These volunteer opportunities are great for all ages, individuals, families, service groups, business teams or social clubs! Sign up to volunteer today and join us in the movement to end hunger!
- Age: Minimum 6 years old
- All volunteers need to sign a liability waiver upon arrival
- You will be volunteering in a warehouse. For safety purposes, all volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes (running shoes, tennis shoes, boots are great!) - no sandals or flip flops. We recommend dressing in layers, as the Warehouse can be chilly or warm based on the temperature outside.
