Words Alive is a nonprofit that provides children and families with access to quality books, shared reading experiences, and a connection to reading that lays the foundation for continued success. They are currently looking for volunteers for their Read Aloud program, which serves ~2,000 students attending Title I (low-income) schools every month.
Volunteers will provide stimulating, shared-reading experiences in preschool and elementary schools, either in person or virtually. This helps young students develop the cognitive, language, and social-emotional skills necessary to be successful adults. No prior teaching experience is necessary; however, volunteers must attend an orientation and complete Read Aloud Program training.
