Who We Are

Step Up Tutoring is a grassroots movement providing free online tutoring to under-resourced elementary school students and building tech-enabled solutions for common issues with online tutoring. Founded during the pandemic when millions of students were falling behind, and we knew we had to help. We have big plans to scale to support 25,000+ students to address systemic opportunity gaps.

Our Mission

Step Up Tutoring’s mission is to drive student success in under-resourced communities by providing free online tutoring and mentorship to 3rd - 6th grade students.

Role Join a team of Software Engineers to support the development and implementation of new features for our Tutor Portal
This is a volunteer position
Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or in progress
• Must be able to commit AT LEAST 15 hours per week for AT LEAST the months of June-August (though you can optionally start the internship in May and end in September)
• Experience working on a development team
• Proficient in React and/or backend development
• Committed, reliable, and detail-oriented
• Inspired by Step Up’s mission

Responsibilities You are responsible for implementing reliable and scalable automation solutions using out of box thinking for our Tutor Portal. You will be expected to complete tasks in a thoughtful and timely manner. These tasks may be frontend, backend or both depending on your skill set and our needs.
