Recruiting Organization: Early Childhood Service Corps

The Early Childhood Service Corps is looking for older adults (50+) to serve as trained Encore Substitutes within Early Childhood classrooms to offer centers valuable support.

These are individuals are at the heart of the Early Childhood Service Corps. These individuals will have taken & completed the UC Denver coursework and are qualified to work in Early Childhood Centers as teachers or substitute teachers. This training is a critical part of supporting the Early Childhood workforce, as 70% of licensed early childhood education directors have trouble finding qualified staff.

This is a great opportunity for post-career adults who appreciate life-long learning, using their talents for good and solving real-world problems, and pursue potential employment in the ECE field. Learn more about what Encore Subs do:

Skills Requested:

  • Desire and willingness to work with small children
  • Ability to attend training/class sessions remotely
  • Familiarity with digital programs such as Zoom

Immediate Impact Made by Volunteers:

  • You will be a solution to the problem of the critical staff shortage in early childhood. You will support early childhood staff and programs that are severely under resourced by providing much needed skills and capacity
  • You will be able to use the skills and knowledge you’ve developed over a lifetime to better early childhood sites inside the classrooms, to prepare our children to be the best that they can be.

You will engage in a meaningful work experience to help support centers who are short staffed for experienced early childhood teachers

Where - Virtually and in-person all over the state of Colorado

  • Active participation in ECE training courses & Child Development courses

To help address critical human resource shortages in the Early Childhood field, Early Childhood Service Corps (ECSC) recruits, trains and deploys older adults to serve in both direct service and capacity-building roles in existing early childhood programs. We are one of the first organizations to amplify the power of older adults in the early childhood field. There is an answer to the workforce crisis in early childhood and it involves people 50 years and older!
